A TRAINING WORKSHOP ABOUT LEADERSHIP IN SHATILA CAMP
CRTDA in coordination with Association Najdeh conducted a training workshop about Leadership for a group of women who are interested in productive projects. Women committees of Women Program participated in the workshop for two days in August 2017 at Najdeh Center in Shatila camp.
A TRAINING WORKSHOP ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS AND WOMEN’S RIGHTS IN PARTICULAR
Association Najdeh conducted a training workshop for Women’s rights Program Staff about Human Rights and women’s rights in particular. The workshop discussed the historical development of women rights through the development of Human rights in the international laws. The workshop was over two days in August 2017 and was facilitated by the lawyer Ms. Afaf Al Shemali.
Awareness Sessions within Masculine Project
Women’s Right Program conducted awareness sessions for the group of youth at all regions in Lebanon. The sessions discussed the topics (Gender, expressions, Drug Addiction and its risks, and Discrimination.)
The psychiatrists, in coordination with the Women’s Rights program’s Coordinators, conducted series of sessions.
The sessions aimed to implement a gender approach with youth through working with them on Gender-Based Violence topics, Participation of youth in discussions about inequality between male and female; In addition to, enhance equality and search for specific needs for boys on the health and developmental levels.
Also, the sessions aimed to open discussions about drug addiction, the dangerous practices, and the assistance in getting rid of it.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM
A Training workshop About (Project Management) at Ein El Helwi Camp
Vocational Training Program conducted a training workshop about (Project Management) at Ein El Helwi Camp in coordination with Red Cross. The workshop targeted a group of Photography, Office Management, hairdressing graduates. The graduates were awarded a visa card of 2000$ to buy equipment.
PSYCHOSOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM
Closure of Summer Activities
The Psychosocial program conducted a final ceremony for summer activities under the title ‘A refugee and I have Rights’. The activities started on the 3rd of July 2017 and ended on 22nd of July 2017at Borj El Barajneh, Shatila, Ein El Helwi, Buss, Borj El Shemali, Naher El Bared, Baddawi, El Jaleel camps and at the Palestinian gatherings of Wadi El Zeini, Saad Nayel, and Bar Elias.
The activities aimed to develop social skills, acquiring new artistic, cognitive, athletic skills; and to enhance cultural, rightful, patriotic senses; to launch creative talents and communal participation.
The summer activities focused on the patriotic, social, health, environmental, rightful topics. It worked on developing the children’s artistic and creative capacities, and to enrich the concept of belonging to the national identity. It aimed to connect the child with the community and to make the parents and the local community participate in the activities. The activities were an open space for individual interests of children to express themselves.
ADVOCACY PROGRAM- RIGHT TO WORK CAMPAIGN
Right to Work Coalition visits the Palestinian Ambassador
A delegation of the Right To work Lebanese-Palestinian coalition visited his Excellency Mr. Ashraf Dabbour, the Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon, to present the work plan of the campaign and the goals achieved till today, and the goals set to be achieved.
The delegation discussed with the ambassador the status of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and the humanitarian situation, concerning the deprivation of the simplest rights that ensure the dignified life.
The delegation consisted of Maha El Khatib (the Campaign Coordinator), Tamam Abdul Latif (Majdo &Al Jaleel Club), Mariam Touki (Association Najdeh), Soad Abdul Rahman (Palestinian Woman Association), Soumaya Takji (Arab Cultural Center), Fatema Abdul Hadi (Vocational Training Center), Dania Nasser (Lebanese Green Crescent Association), Samer Al Ashkar (Popular Committees in the Camps).
A workshop “Activation of youth committees and its structure in the Right to Work Campaign”
The Right To Work Lebanese-Palestinian Coalition conducted an interactive workshop for youth under the title of “Activation of youth committees and its structure in the Right to Work Campaign”, at Riviera Hotel- Beirut. A total of 26 female and male youth from different areas and the Palestinian camps participated in the workshop.
The workshop aimed to activate the youth’s role and connect them with the campaign, in addition, to reformulate their role in the campaign.
The workshop was opened by Malvina Abu Reine through an introduction and an identification of expectations from the workshop by the participants.
The Campaign coordinator, Maha Al-Khatib, gave a presentation about the campaign and talked about the launching, the general and the subsidiary objectives, the strategy, the international conventions and treaties that support the right to work, and she focused on the laws and regulations that include the work of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and the amendments, and the achievements of the campaign.
The workshop was divided into two sessions; the first session discussed the activation of youth role in the campaign, and the second session discussed the role of youth committees in the campaign.
The first session was facilitated by the psychiatrist Hanan Zreika, who clarified the concept of leadership, needs, motives, challenges, and priorities in the planning of work plan of youth committees. The participants identified the needs and assured on the importance of awareness towards the right to work and its necessity to identify tools and pressure mechanisms to reach bigger Lebanese and Palestinian support for the campaign and its demands.
The second session was facilitated by the coordinator of the campaign. Mrs. El Khatib identified the work of the youth committees and the mechanisms through four interlocutors (Monitoring violations, Awareness, Coordination & Networking, and Media).
The workshop produced recommendations, including conducting more workshops on monitoring violations, media, and to work on attracting more supporters to the campaign.
A WORKSHOP “OUR RIGHT TO WORK TILL OUR RETURN” AT EIN EL- HELWI CAMP
The Lebanese-Palestinian Of Right to Work Coalition conducted a workshop under the title “Our Right to work till our Return”. The workshop was facilitated by Khaled Abu Sweid, the Coordinator of the campaign in Saida. He presented the campaign and the importance of the coalition, its activities and the discriminative laws against the Palestinians. This presentation aims to highlight the laws and regulations of work of Palestinians in Lebanon. At the final session, recommendations and suggestions were discussed to improve the mechanisms of the campaign strategy.
Visits
A TUNISIAN & FRENCH DELEGATION VISITS ASSOCIATION NAJDEH AT BADAWI CAMP
Association Najdeh at Beddawi camp received a French and Tunisian delegation with the director of the association Ms. Leila Al Ali.
At the beginning of the visit, the delegation visited the Kindergarten and the director of the Beddawi branch, Hanaa Al-Enein, talked about the camp and its population, the number of families from Nahr el-Bared camp, the number of Palestinian families displaced from Syria and the reflection of crises since the July war2006 to the Syrian crisis, on all aspects of the life in the camp.
She provided an overview of the socio-economic conditions in the camp and highlighted the problem of reducing UNRWA services in health, education, and services, in addition to the difficult situation of the Palestinian refugees from Syria.
Ms. Al Enein explained to the delegation the role of Association and its importance in the Palestinian community due to its different services at all levels through programs that of the Association.
The delegation had a tour in the kindergarten to have an overview of the classrooms and equipment available. Then the delegation moved to the psycho-social center and had a briefing about the work with children at the center.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION WORKSHOP
Capacity building workshop: Enhancing the capacity of front-line staff for Association Najdeh in Lebanon to build an integrated monitoring and evaluation system within the association through a project funded by #UNTF and Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation.
The training was based on the participatory methodology, and the NGOs’ building capacity manual: Principles of monitoring and training manual issued by the Women’s Learning Partnership (WLP), and the World Bank, that discusses the establishment of matrix of NGOs, under the title of (Making Monitoring and Evaluation Systems Work).
A REHABILITATION PROJECT FOR WALLS OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF NAHER EL- BARED CAMP
Association Najdeh organized a rehabilitation project for walls of the neighborhood of Naher-El-Bared camp through the campaign “A beautiful Environment for Everyone”. This project is funded by ANERA, UNICEF, and Canadian Government.
